He wasn’t flashy (I’m not one for flashy 720 spins, dribble out of your ass moves if you haven’t guessed) and could play hard inside the paint and shoot from outside too. I also like Charles Barkley but don’t agree with his views on gay bashing. He was an undersized power forward (bit like me) who played much bigger then his size. Clyd “The Glide” Drexler gets a mention, Isiah Thomas, Larry Bird and Ray Allen just cause he probably has the best shot ever. They would make a pretty nice starting 5 I reckon. | | Best Basketball memory | Watching White men can't jump | Being down by 3 points with 10 seconds left in the 4th. Dribble up to the 3 point line to take the game into over time. Getting fouled as I take the shot, the ball pings off the rim so I go to the stripe for 3 shots to tie it. My coach says “I’ll give you my house if you make all 3” I make them all. The game goes into overtime. I then go on to make a crucial steal to get us the win over one of our rival teams. That was a good day. | | Worst basketball memory | Every post game shower session with Pascal | Playing away to Gosport and only having 6 players because the previous week, the game had to cancelled as no refs were appointed when we happened to have a full squad. Anyway, one of our 6 team members that could make it to the re-match happened to be one of those 720 spin move dribble out of your ass players (as I have said before I’m not keen on these types). This player thought he could do it all and proceeded to demand the ball and take these impossible shots with a defender in his face. He’d spin fade away on the 3 point line. I wouldn’t of minded if they went in but they all missed and missed badly. In the mean time the other team were scoring heavily. I was trying to defend their big guy, rebound and box out down our end. Once we got the ball it would end up in our “Jordan” wannabe’s hands by the time I got to the 3 point line down their end our offense was over and so the cycle continued, until I flipped at the end of the 3rd. The buzzer went and we went back to our bench (this is where it becomes a little hazy) Apparently I pick our bench up and throw it across the court. We lost the game of course (not because I threw the bench but because we played shite) and I couldn’t’ stop swearing the entire 40 minute drive home. Don’t ever want to see that kind of play again. My ankles probably wouldn’t dislocate if I want to sit cross legged and lean forward either.
