Welcome to Winchester City Basketball Club.
As a club we aim to bring together people from the Winchester area, who love the game of basketball. We have lots to offer everyone, from players who wish to learn more about the game and develop their skills, to those looking for the opportunity to play competitive team basketball at a high standard. There are also plenty of opportunities to get involved with coaching, officiating and many other areas of the game!
The club itself consists of four mens teams - Warriors, Wizards, Wasps and the Southsiders and junior teams that have recently started competing in the local area Central Venue League - as well as offering women the same opportunities through our association with the Winchester Diamonds Ladies Basketball Club.
All these teams play at local league level.
The Warriors are heading into their fourth season. They won promotion from Solent league division two last season, but due to unusually high turnover of players could not take their place in division 1 this season and had their application to play in division 3 turned down.
The Wizards are in their third season, and are competing in Solent League Division Two this season after finishing runners up in division three last season.
The Wasps are heading into their second season, after winning Solent League Division 3 last season they are playing in Division two this year.
The Southsiders are also entering their second season competing in the Solent League Division 2 having secured promotion from division 3 last season.
The Diamonds have been running many years and compete in both the Solent and Wessex womens basketball leagues.
Due to the high level of interest and the quality of player in the club, a team has been entered into the Men's Founders Cup for the second season in row. This national competition allows players to test their skills against teams from outside their local area.
The club prides itself on its friendly but competitive approach to basketball and strives to promote the sport around Winchester.
